Flashback Friday & Foodie Friday- CUPCAKES
Joining my dear friend, Suzy, of Kitchen Bouquet in her Flashback Friday. Going back and revisiting recipes I have done brought up two delicious cupcake recipes I'd like to share.
The first is a Boston Cream Pie Cupcake from Martha Stewart. The creamy filling is thick, smooth and decadent. If you love the pie, you'll love this cupcake!
The next is the favorite of my two sons, a Strawberry and Mascarpone Filled Cupcake. They "hint" constantly by saying how much they like the cupcake and reminding me how long it has been since I've made them! It is a recipe from Giada, so you know it is absolutely scrumptious!
To finish off this Flashback Friday, here's a Flashback Flower from my garden. A pink hardy hibiscus...can't wait for it to bloom again this year..
Stop by and visit Suzy's blog to link up with other bloggers taking part in Flashback Friday!
I'm making this post also my entry for Foodie Friday..visit Gollum's post for some great links to recipes...

The strawberry and marscapone cupcakes sound sooooo wonderful. Yum.
Agreed... if it has strawberries and mascarpone in it, count me in!!! Thanks for the link. The BC cupcakes look adorable too!
Take care,
ButterYum
How cute are those boston cream pie cupcakes. They are really making me hungry. I should know better than to do this when I am hungry.
I loved your cupcakes the first time around and love them just as much now. The Boston Cremes came out so cool and the pink ones...well I love anything pink!!!! They are my favs. I somehow have never seemed to acquire a hardy hibiscus. I've tried growing from seeds but I think something must eat them..slugs...I'd guess. Your's is gorgeous. Time for me to try again. I haven't seen them for sale here.
Yummm, I ♥ cupcakes! Your hibiscus is gorgeous! ☺ Diane
I remember those cupcakes, Barb! you're killing me with them, now and back then, I remember needing to have one (or three) of those Boston Creme's! Super post!
These are gourmet cupcakes! Proves they're for big kids too! They look wonderful...Nancy
The cupcakes look so good! I'm not a big cake eater, but with all that ooey-goey filling they would be wonderful!
I wish I had better luck with those hibiscus. I've invested in 3 of them over the years and they keep freezing out. Yours is so pretty!
Barb, I remember when you first posted the cupcakes and how much your sons loved the strawberry and marscapone ones. I get a daily email from M. Stewart, and this week one of the newsletters was for the Boston Cream pie cupcake. My friend also receives the newsletter and I was telling her at lunch about your wonderful pics last year of the cupcake. Were your ears burning?
I need to try the "pink" ones ... Should I ship some to your sons? :)
I remember both cupcakes so well - as if it were yesterday. The pink cupcakes and pink hibiscus are beautiful but those Bostom Creme Pie cupcakes are calling me!
Yes, we did the cupcake thing for a Darling Bakers event didn't we?
They look delicious, and I sure could go for one right now!
Beautiful flower...
I didn't make it to FF this week...next week for sure!
yummy! I hope you had a happy Foodie Friday and are having a great weekend ~ Susan
I was just thinking the other day about boston cream pie mixes, one of my first "specialties" as a teenager. I don't think they make those any more. The wedding is next Saturday--keep me in your prayers ( and the weather too!) :)
your pictures look good enough to eat!!!!!
Barb, I'm sooooo happy you flashed back on the cupcakes and Boston Cremes. The hardy hibiscus are fabulous, I have some in dark red. Wish they would bloom sooner :-)
These would be the perfect dessert. The layers are killing me--and the lovely pale pink. Oh, I MUST make these. I bought the darlingest cupcake wrappers at Big Lots today for $2, so I am thrilled beyond words to find your wonderful post!
