The Race is On....

Now with Thanksgiving behind us, literally all that food has to go somewhere, it's time to decide what Christmas baking I will undertake for this season.  I've always tried to make some things I have never made and hopefully they will turn out to be a 'favorite'.  So for the next week I will be hitting the blogs looking for those special treats to try.  Until then, I accomplished the most important task in buying some ingredients.  Susan, Savoring Time In The Kitchen, has drilled into my head that you need to use the best chocolate you can find for many of the Christmas treats.  Hopefully, Susan will approve...

Some fudge has already been made with the bittersweet, I've resisted any taste testing but I know from just the aroma it will be good.  Now just to decide what else will be on my list....

My sister Sue, and her family, came home for Thanksgiving.  She stopped at our Aunt Marilyn's or "Mame" as we call her to visit.  Mame's African violet was in full bloom...amazing how they bloom at all different times of the year.

Thanks For Stopping By...

I found some of those Sharffen Berger chunks at a little grocery store by my office downtown. It was a new item..unmarked. There was a coupon for $1.00 off. The manager said..how about 1.99 until I find out the real price. I think I got quite the deal!!!!

That's the one thing every good chef says....use the very best chocolate. I confess this one is unfamiliar, but if you say so....I'll check it out at the market.

I hope that my drill didn't damage anything ;) I love Scharffen Berger chocolate! I buy the big bars and chop it myself. My second favorite is Ghiradelli dark chocolate. Sometimes, I'll just break off a square and have it as a treat in the afternoon.

Can't wait to see what you made this year, Barb! Gorgeous violet too!

I am a big fan of Trader Joe's chocolate bars for baking. For the price, you just can't beat it. I look forward to your baking adventures!

I'm starting to plan my baking for the holidays and stocking up on good chocolate is the place to start. Looking forward to your posts, Barb. I like to try new recipes too.
