April Fool's Day

Carol at There's Always Thyme To Cook is hosting an April Fool's Party to showcase our faux food!

I was all set to make the Spaghetti and Meatballs, but my dear co-hort Suzy from Kitchen Bouquet beat me to the punch! So, since I didn't want a double up I went back and did more research to come up with another dish. I was really proud of myself..came up with something great and promised myself I would NOT change my mind even if someone else picked my dish.

After I finished my class this morning in Digital Imaging I went to the grocery to get all my ingredients..back home slaving away baking, mixing up concoctions, taking pictures getting everything just perfect!

Finally ready to do my post, everything is in order until I linked on to Dashboard and saw KATHLEEN'S post!!! Sometimes I swear we share one mind...Irish folk are like that at times. Needless to say my contribution is a grilled cheese sandwich and french fries, which is one of my favs also! Kathleen is a genius in presentation so I'm glad I didn't even attempt that ;)

I really loved doing this..my DIL stopped by as I was getting everything ready and was impressed. So, without any further comments..since I know the suspense is just killing you all....

My GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH:

and my FAUX FRENCH FRIES:

My Fries were made with premade breadstick dough, and catsup was seedless strawberry jelly! To get both of the recipes just click on the names for the link.

Thanks Carol for hosting this fun event.. go to Carol's blog and you can link to all the others who have joined in for the April Fool's Party!

Just to give you all a HEAD'S UP.... I will be hosting a Mothers Day Event the weekend of May 9th. I would love for all to join in and show us any photos of your mother and grandmothers with some of their favorite recipes you always remember when you think of them! I'll have Mr. Linky posted on the Friday before...maybe, if I can get it figured out!

I was going to do Suzy's Spaghetti too! There aren't that many faux food recipes out there so I'm not surprised we had some duplicated ideas.

Your 'fries' and 'grilled cheese' look great!

Barb, yours look better! I was ready to give up..I was going to do the scamburgers, then Suzy did..
I was then going to make an apple pie in my chicken pot pie dish...but then I remembered I had this pound cake in the freezer for emergencies, and this was!!
I like your little bag for the fries, too funny!

Barb, I LOVE your post.

I think that each of you put your own personality into each "dish".

The french fries ARE fabulous and very realistic. I'm definitely going to prepare this sometime.

Sounds like it was fun for everyone.

Great post, Barb! The "grilled cheese" came out excellent! and too cool that you, Kathleen and Marsha all made similar but it all comes out different with a bit of each personality! Love it! Everything looks perfect. I'd have been fooled if I didn't know :)

I am really looking forward to your Mother's Day!

You've made me hungry for fries now!!! Those look awesome. Big fat home fries. Love your cute litte fry holder. The Grilled cheese is amazing..prefectly toasted. I wish I could get my real grilled cheeses to look like that lololol. You really should have gone ahead and done the spaghetti too. It was fun! Great job Barb.

How fun!! Did I miss how the faux grilled cheese sandwich was made? I enjoy creating with food.
Which you'll see soon on my blog.
This was a great trick for April fools.
