Trying new things….

I’ve been trying to prepare meals differently these days instead of the same old humdrum ways I have in the past. The meal I prepared of slow baked pork chops, roasted potatoes and roasted asparagus with hollandaise sauce was just scrumptious and so filling.

The roasted potatoes were a recipe I snapped up from a fellow blogger Susan, from Savoring Time in the Kitchen . It not only tasted great but it makes such a pretty presentation.

I had always steamed my asparagus but had seen so many roasting it instead. I have to admit the roasting gives it a much better flavor. Since I had a little Hollandaise sauce left over, decided to use that over the asparagus. It gave it an extra flavor that was over the top!

Paired with the slow baked pork chops, which were so tender, there was no need for a knife at all. Topped off with lots of baked onions, gave the chops that additional bit of flavor.

Such a simple meal but so very comforting and bursting with flavor! I guess an old dog can learn new tricks. For a novice cook I am enjoying trying new things which are probably old hat to most of you, but keep teaching me….I'm enjoying your lessons!

This is such a great combination for a meal. You are right--even a plain old potato looks festive! I have gotten many great ideas from fellow bloggers-- I consider reading blogs educational!!

What a beautiful presentation. I've never prepared a potato this way, and I love it. Lots more surface to get browned and buttery. And I agree with you, roasting veggies is the way to go.

Oh that looks excellent! I love the meat and potatoes and YKW would love the asparagus. Next time you roast them, if you aren't going to use Hollandaise, toss some sesame seed on before roasting...another layer of flavor..:)
I wish I had that pc and potato now..I just had the worst shrimp wonton soup from Costco...there was coupon in the book for it..OY, I can't describe how bad it was!

I love everything about this meal Barb! I tried the potatoes and really liked them. I love roasted asparagus too. You have to be careful though lol I burnt the tips to a crisp one time. Hollandaise makes everything better. I am a big fan of any pork of any kind. Great meal! Gorgeous presentation too.

Barb, what a wonderful looking dinner. ... Everything looks delicious. Your potato is just gorgeous, and I love the way you prepared the pork chop.

We, too, love grilled asparagus. Actually John loves asparagus prepared all different kinds of ways, but the hollandaise would seal the deal.
