Deck The Halls ... My "Snowman Bob"

So excited about joining Susan at Thoughts From Over The Rainbow for her “Deck The Halls” on Tuesdays! Make sure you check out her blog for links to I’m sure will be some gorgeous Christmas decorations! If she doesn’t get Mr. Linky up and going, check the comments section for links to other blogs participating.

Since my boys are grown I don’t decorate as much as I used to, so I will be showing just bits and pieces. This way I will be able to contribute every Tuesday!

My favorite Christmas dishes I use for entertaining are my “Snowman Bob” pieces. I love the whimsy of the dishes and have received so many of the pieces as gifts a few years ago. I hope you enjoy them!

Last Christmas I used the nice big cup for some delicious hot chocolate to go along with the homemade marshmallows a group of us made for the first time…Something that I will have to try again this year…

Thanks for stopping by, pop in again next week for a look at more "pretties"

MARSHMALLOW RECIPE:

Ingredients:
· 3 packages unflavored gelatin
· 1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
· 1 cup light corn syrup
· 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
· 1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract
· Confectioners' sugar for dusting
Preparation:
Combine the gelatin and 1/2 cup of cold water in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment and allow to sit while you make the syrup.

Meanwhile, combine the sugar, corn syrup, salt, and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Raise the heat to high and cook until the syrup reaches 240 degrees on a candy thermometer. Remove from the heat. With the mixer on low speed slowly pour the sugar syrup into the dissolved gelatin. Put the mixer on high speed and whip until the mixture is very thick, about 15 minutes. Add the vanilla and mix thoroughly.

With a sieve, generously dust an 8 x 12-inch non-metal baking dish with confectioners' sugar. Pour the marshmallow mixture into the pan, smooth the top and dust with more confectioners' sugar. Allow to stand uncovered overnight until it dries out.

Turn the marshmallows onto a board and cut them in squares. dust them with more confectioners' sugar.

Yield: 20 to 40 marshmallows, depending on cut size

I made some raspberry flavored ones also!!! They were great with hot chocolate!

Barb, I remember your snowman from the marshmallow making posts, but I didn't realize he was part of a collection. I'm not familiar with Snowman Bob. I can see why you like the pattern. He's very festive and you have lots of cute shapes and accessories. What a fun set!

You did homemade marshmallows? You are a hero! Was it terribly difficult? I understand they are simply amazingly delicious and SO much better than the usual puffs.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the snowman dishes. He is darling. I thought I had seen every Christmas pattern china known to mankind, but this one is new to me! And really sweet.

I am just now getting around doing much visiting--dealing with Mr. Linky issues. I think the problem is solved. Love your dishes--How did he get his name "Bob"? I would love to have these! I made marshmallows this year with toffee in them--they were good, but a lot of trouble! Thanks for partcipating. Hope you'll come back next week!

Love the dishes -- are they formally called "Snowman Bob" or is that your name for them?

I've never made marshmallows -- I may have to do that -- any Ina recipe is a keeper and usually simple!
