A Dream or a Nightmare...

A number of my fellow bloggers have me remembering Christmas 2008 Baking Extravaganza! Still haven't decided if it was a dream or a nightmare.

I put the proverbial "foot in my mouth" when I declared I would bake a cookie or candy every day until December 24th! Can't remember the exact date I made the declaration, but I do know it was in EARLY December!

In joining Suzy from Kitchen Bouquet for Flashback Friday I am posting a sampling of the treats I made last year...

MAGNOLIAS

RASPBERRY LEMON THUMBPRINTS

SPRITZ

PECAN TARTS

SNOWPEAKS

NOUGAT

RED DEVIL'S FOOD WHOOPIE PIES

DIVINITY - my favorite

MOLASSES COOKIES

KRINGLA

CARAMELS

ANDES COOKIES

Needless to say I will not be making any proclamations this year...but I will do my share of baking and making candies for Christmas. Some will be repeats since they are family favorites, other will be new for the first time. After seeing Susan's Linzers last year, they are at the top of my list!!

I think it was both a dream and a nightmare, Barb! A dream for us and a nightmare for you :) I don't think I'll ever forgot your wonderful baking extravaganza. Great flashback!

Oh, what a beautiful array of Christmas cookies. I don't have to look any further for recipes to fill out my list. Thanks, Barb. You were one busy lady last year.

Oh My Goodness, I think I gained pounds just looking at those pictures! What beautiful treats! I wanna come to your house for the Christmas season! That photo of Jack waiting for Santa is absolutely precious! He's so pretty. I just wanted to reach out and pat his head. Your blog design is pretty too, but Jack stole the show! laurie

You are inspiring, or maybe just crazy. Either way this looks delicious.
Pace yourself this year. Maybe every other day?
I hope to get an appetizer done every day to freeze in preparation for our open house we host on Boxing Day every year. (DEC. 26). Or not.

Barb ... I love seeing your treats again ... What a feat! You took on a huge commitment and completed each day's treat with great flair. It was fun to see what you would come up with each day. I know I enjoyed your challenge, so it was definitely a dream for me. ... I could never choose a favorite, but I do LOVE a good pecan tart. :)

I agree with Susan - it was a dream for us and maybe towards the end became a nightmare for you :) But you never let us down and just kept going! Divinity is a favorite for me too - I haven't had it in years so I should try it once again. I remember them all except for the snowpeaks - refresh my memory...please :)

I guess I wasn't keeping up back then and missed this--what a challenge! I haven't had divinity in years-- it was my grandmother's favorite too. She said you couldn't make it in rainy weather. The red devil's food looks so good! Steal any ideas you want---I did :) I'd be honored!
