Mosaic Monday - Shrimp Truck's Last Visit
The weekend before Thanksgiving turned out to be the last visit of the Fabian Shrimp Truck from the Gulf for the season. Usually I try to make it to their stop in Sioux Falls but just happened to run across him in St. Peter, MN on my way home from the Cities.
Susan from Savoring Time in the Kitchen gave us the heads up on him last Spring, when she ended up being interviewed by a reporter doing a story on the Shrimp Truck! I was not disappointed in any way... ended up buying 3# of the larger shrimp which came to almost 50 pieces!
They packed them in ice for me so I could make the trip home, then froze all but this batch in water for use later on. These are fresh gulf shrimp, headless shell-on, all of their shrimp are Wild-Caught...not farm raised. You do have to devein them, but it is so worth the time when you taste the freshness of these delectable morsels!!
The meal was simple, fresh sauteed shrimp with angel hair pasta covered with a garlic butter sauce. A little crusty baguette on the side made the meal complete.
I'm kind of kicking myself now for not getting some of their oysters..but having shopped a little more than expected in Minneapolis that weekend I had to be selective! BUT, I will be waiting for their return in the Spring.... you can get on their schedule by clicking on their link above.
I'm linking this post for Mosaic Monday, joining Mary at the Little Red House. Be sure to check out her blog to links for some fantastic and unique mosaics!

Nice that you didn't miss the truck, Barb! Your shrimp looks fantastically delicious! I am so jealous!
Wow! Those shrimps look so succulent! Bet they tasted just as good as in the pics. I am drooling on my keyboards!
Those shrimp do look delicious, for some reason I only started eating them after we moved to the US, would love to be able to buy them this way, lovely mosaic too, happy MM, Kathy.
Your shrimp dish looks scrumptious. I'm blessed to live in a state where the ocean is only 3 hours away. So you can imagine fresh shrimp is easy to find in these parts during shrimp season. One of my favorite recipes is shrimp and grits or cooked with tomatoes and feta cheese.
Hey, Barb, I LOVE YOUR BOTTOM! LOL
and Jack at the TOP!
I don't eat shellfish but my husband loves it.
You should see the nasty trucks here selling fish on the roadsides. You wouldn't buy anything from them I am sure.
This one looks much better and professional.
Looks delish, Barb!
I'm so happy you found Fabian and their wonderful shrimp. I wish I would have bought more the last time they were here! Your shrimp and pasta look sooooo good!
Oh now...that looks good. I'm glad you didn't let the truck pass you by! I love getting good tips from bloggers :0)
Wonderful mosiac and photos, I am glad I already ate. Or I would be wanted shrimp for dinner.
Barb ... my mouth is watering just looking at your garlic shrimp. They look so delicious. ... What a fun mosaic ... beautiful pics of the shrimp AND the Fabian truck. What would you have made with the oysters?
I'm a little jealous of having a shrimp truck nearby :) The shrimp look so good :) Fabian sounds like a name for an exotic boyfriend doesn't it? LOL!
Looks yummy! I saw you live in NW Iowa. I lived in Sioux City all my teen and college age years. My husband was born and raised there and all his family (except one brother) still reside there. Small world...
Thank you for stopping by my Mosaic Monday. The shrimp look so yummy!
Did you say you ran over Fabian?? :)
I used to love him..
