Ice is definitely not my friend after a broken wrist just before Thanksgiving. Think I will getting out my re-moveable cast to use in the morning.
Good day to stay in – and bake my favorite oatmeal cookies….
This is the recipe my Mom always made for us growing up
1 1/2 C Crisco
1 Cup white sugar
2 Cups brown sugar
1/2 Cup water
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Combine these six ingredients and mix well
3 1/2 Cups flour
2 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
Mix the dry ingredients in with the wet, mix well
Fold in 2 Cups of old-fashioned oatmeal – Quaker Oats
Drop by tsp on ungreased cookie sheet – Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes depending on oven. I would check after 9 – 10 minutes to be safe! (that is for Carol's benefit)
Mom would bake half the batter as is then add a cup of chocolate chips to the batter and bake the rest. With 10 kids she had to try and appease everyone!
The perfect thin, chewy cookie…..

Oooh...be careful out there! And thanks for the recipe! Oatmeal cookies are my favorite! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
We're getting the wintery mix tomorrow! And we had 60 the other day! What kind of crazy weather are you sending us? Kathleen is not going to like this!
But those cookies, they look amazing, perfect day to bake, be careful with the ice!
I have to keep reminding myself that it is still winter, even though the temperatures have been real close to 70° the past few days...it is going to be down to 29° tonight with rain and snow through tomorrow morning. I am so ready for warm sunny days!
The cookies look delicious...oatmeal is Howard's favorite, he won't share with anyone!
No ice here but lots of snow and wind, a real white-out. Be careful walking outside on that ice.
The cookies look great, I love oatmeal raisin cookies but no one else in my family did so we had oatmeal choc chip.
Winter is back here, too. I am just thankful we didn't get the snow they received north of us!!!
These cookies look delicious. Perfect with a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day!
Winter is back here too. Never really left. Haven't seen the ground since Cmas.

Ice is the worse! BE CAREFUL MISSY! Thanks for sharing the recipe. The oldies are the best. I'll have to give it a try.

I do hope you were able to have your cast removed. Your cookies look delicious. I can see why they are your favorites. Have a good day. Blessings...Mary
I may live in Florida, but I remember Michigan weather! Sometimes you wonder if winter will ever be over and then suddenly, you see forsythia starting to bloom. Patience my friend, and keep making yummy cookies like these!
